Spectator Admission: $20.00 at the door (age 7 and under free)

INITIAL WEIGH-INS & BOXING CLASS DECLARATIONS

COMPETITION WEIGH-INS AND PHYSICALS

• Only those boxers who are scheduled to compete on that day must weigh in.

• All Open Class boxers must make their “DECLARED” weight. Open Class boxers will have until the end of the designated weigh-in period to make their declared weight. Any Open Class boxer who weighs in to compete and weighs more than two pounds of his/her declared weight will be automatically disqualified. If you are not in line to be weighed in by 12:00 pm, you will be disqualified. Scales will close at noon sharp.

• The Boxer, Coach, or the Guardian must fill out the weigh-in card; this will be the “Official Declaration” of the boxer’s weight and boxing class. There will be NO changes at the tournament site.

ADVANCEMENT

Only the Open Class Female & Male Champions will advance to the National Golden Gloves Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 15 thru August 20.  All others are matched bouts only, however, weight classes are mandatory.

AGE DETERMINATION

All advancing boxers must be at least 18 years of age on July 16, 2022, but not yet 41 years of age on August 20, 2022.

All other Metro Detroit Golden Gloves franchise USAB registered boxers may enter the tournament. However, a boxer must be 8 years old to become a member of USAB.

NOTE: The Detroit Golden Gloves will NOT contest any Master bouts.

CITIZENSHIP

All US citizens are eligible to participate.  Non-US citizens who are legal residents of the US and have resided in the US at least one (1) year are also eligible to participate.

REGISTRATION — “NO BOOK - NO BOX”

All coaches must be registered, certified for the 2022 year, have completed the Safe Sport Training, and have passed the background check with USA Boxing. If the coach is not registered, he or she will not be allowed to work their boxer’s corner. If a coach is not registered, the coach must pay the $20.00 admission fee (no exceptions).  You must register your boxer online. Go to usaboxing.org to register with USA Boxing.

PASSBOOKS

Boxers must have their 2022 registration card and their current “Annual Physical” form signed by their personal doctor in their passbooks.

WEIGHT DIVISIONS

Per USA Boxing Rules

CLASSES (All Ages Per USA Boxing Rules)

• Sub Novice: 0 -  4 bouts - boxers may compete as a Sub Novice, Novice, or Open Class boxer

• Novice: 5 - 10 bouts - boxers may compete as a Novice or Open Class boxer

• Open: 11+ Bouts - no minimum number of contested bouts required to compete as an Open Class boxer

WAIVERS

• MMA boxers must compete as an Open Class boxer or see USA Boxing Rulebook - Rule # 8.2

• Request for Religious Exemption Waiver - contact USA Boxing for waiver

• A boxer must present any “USA Boxing Approved Waiver” with his or her passbook
